Portfolio Prompts

Here are a series of prompts scaffolded to move your thinking about your experiences:

  • Report the skills you are learning and relate this new knowledge to other areas and aspects in your life.
  • Construct a set of reasons that connect your skills with your life experiences in a meaningful way.
  • Reassemble your thoughts and evidence of learning to showcase you and the projects you want to highlight.

When making web content, keep in mind the following:

  • Purpose of the site you want to share with the world – this can be connected to the goal you set for yourself for a class, internship, work experience and/or the values you have identified for your life as important.
  • Target audience – who do you want to reach? Writing for the entire world is difficult, so imagine the person or group you really want paying attention to what you have to say.  Who are they?  What are they like?  How are they different from you?
  • Skills you want to practice:  for example, web design, image manipulation, or storytelling.
